A bike tune-up is a complete inspection, adjustment, and lubrication of your bicycle. We adjust gears and brakes, true wheels, adjust the headset, bottom bracket, axle cones and check all nuts and bolts during a tune up. We will also lube your bike as needed. During a tune-up, we perform all repairs necessary to put your bike into the best shape it can be in for safe and reliable operation. Parts and installation labor are not included. We recommend tune-ups once a year at a minimum for all bikes. Tuneups do not include extensive cleaning of any part of your bike.
$79 for Geared Bikes
$49 for BMX, Kids, and Freestyle Type Bikes
The photos below give you an idea of what we do when your bike is here for a tune up. Each bike we work on is a unique case, so many times we'll do more than what is pictured to a bike while performing a tune up.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I MAINTAIN MY BICYCLE????A common and legit question. The most accurate answer is that it depends on where you ride, what conditions you ride in and how much you ride. A bicycle is a machine...all machines need some form of continuous care. Here is a small list of things to do before and after every ride at a minimum...and a guide to how often your bike needs to visit the shop.
BEFORE EVERY RIDE
AFTER EVERY RIDE
We also offer a lower cost option to a tune-up that we call a Check Over. The price is $55. It is about 2/3 of a full tune and the mechanic decides where to spend his time based on the bike's immediate, obvious needs.
Tuneups do not include extensive cleaning of any part of your bike. If your bike is slimy and grimy, read on...
* Every brand new bike will require a followup service after just a few rides. Wires stretch, spokes loosen, bolts settle and get loose, press fit bearings need re-adjustment, and much more. This is why all bike shops offer free tune-ups with new bike purchases. Simply put, a great bike build and tune-up 'undoes itself' with just a few miles on a brand new rig. The level of bike is unimportant. Even the finest equipment assembled by the BEST mechanic will require follow-up adjustment.
With more and more people choosing to buy their bikes through different channels these days, shops are offering consumers assembly services like the ones listed above so you can be assured that your new bike will not only initially get assembled and tuned properly, but will be re-adjusted and kept in top shape during it's break in period.
All rates listed are minimum. Hourly bench rate of $80 applies to all service department work. Repair estimates are not guaranteed unless given in writing by management. Deposits may be required before work begins. Store Service Dept. Policy applies to all service department transactions! Policies and costs posted in-store hold precedence over any listed on this site. A $3.50 supply/disposal fee is added to all repair work.
