Smart Cycles in Norwalk is excited to offer your organization a great way to raise funds for your activities while promoting a local, independent, and owner-operated business. But wait, it gets better! Instead of selling cookies, candies, and other such knick-knacks, and going door-to-door to do so, your group can earn cash back on purchases made throughout a season (or other pre-determined time frame) at your friendly, healthy, neighborhood bike shop!  Groups, schools, organizations, families, teams and even individuals are welcome to participate.

Who doesn’t? I bet you can’t think of anyone.  Biking is fun, it promotes wellness, it is done by individuals, children, adults, families, and teams. It can be for pure recreation, it can be for competition. You get the idea. It comes down to the simple fact that just about EVERYONE needs and uses a bike shop at some point. By putting your members in touch with us, we can combine their needs with our expertise and help you earn more money to fund your programs.

Every group has individual needs and we can tailor your fundraiser in a variety of ways so it works best for you. But here is a quick snapshot of what happens:

An official from your organization works with the owner of Smart Cycles to setup your fundraiser’s details.

We select a date and time for a reception at Smart Cycles for your members/guests. Smart Cycles can provide refreshments, conduct safety clinics, provide advice, etc. to your guests. The reception is optional (but recommended) and it is totally LOW PRESSURE….no hard sells or any of that.   Smart Cycles also sends out an invitation to our customer list (over 10,000 strong) inviting them to the reception where a portion of any purchase they make that evening going to your cause.

Your members are also notified of the FUNDRAISER directly by YOU in mailed correspondence, email campaigns, social media posts, etc.

Your group will be assigned a “Member ID” by Smart Cycles and each member (family, individual) will receive a card that they present at ring out at our store. Each sale will be recorded ‘on account’ and commissions will be paid out at the rate and on the schedule that is agreed upon before the fundraiser begins.

Each campaign is different as are the results. For example, we had an individual female customer of ours use this turnkey fundraiser to bring awareness to her participation in a charity ride. She simply notified her friends on social media that she was hosting a CYCLING and CUPCAKE party at our shop. 27 of her friends came and it was a blast. After 60 days, she had earned $1400 towards her ride/cause.

Another customer hosted a similar event to benefit Children’s Connection – a group that collects gifts to deliver to children in unfortunate situations at the Holidays. Her 3 hour event netted enough to deliver 24 bikes and helmets to the charity.
